CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Names of Applicants | The name of an applicant for the position of chief executive officer of an institution of higher education, including a college district, and other information that would tend to identify the applicant, is excepted from disclosure under the requirements of Government Code 552.021. [See GCA] Gov’t Code 552.123 |
Exception | The governing body of the institution must give public notice of the name or names of the finalists being considered for the position at least 21 days before the date of the meeting at which final action or vote is to be taken on the employment of the person. Executive Search Committees | An “executive search committee” is a committee formed by an act of a board of regents of a college district or other institution of higher education, which has as its primary purpose the evaluation and assessment of candidates and nominees for the position of president or chief executive officer of an institution of higher education. Education Code 51.913(a)(1) |
Membership | The membership of an executive search committee for a president or chief executive officer of an institution of higher education must include at least two members of the institution’s governing board with at least one of those members serving as chair. Education Code 51.913(c) |
Employment Announcement | The board shall announce the name, background, and qualifications of any individual it selects and employs by use of an executive search committee. Education Code 51.913(b) |
