DDA EXHIBIT B

ALTERNATIVE INSTRUCTOR CREDENTIALS

This form may be used to comply with DDA (REGULATION) related to the process for justifying, documenting, and approving instructor qualifications.

SACSCOC Standard 6.2a requires that, “for each of its educational programs, the institution justifies and documents the qualifications of its faculty members.” As stated in the Resource Manual for the Principles of Accreditation, “determining the acceptability of faculty qualifications requires judicious use of professional judgment, especially when persons do not hold degrees in the teaching discipline or are qualified based on criteria other than their academic credentials.” In accordance with Standard 6.2a, if an instructor does not have academic credentials appropriate for the discipline and level of a course that he or she is assigned to teach, the dean or lead administrator of a school must obtain prior approval of the teaching assignment from the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Supporting Documentation

Scan and send to the Vice President of Academic Affairs supporting documentation, such as the following:

  1. Unofficial transcripts (new hires) OR

    Verify that official transcripts are on file with Academic Affairs for current instructors.

  2. Evidence of relevant work or professional experience (e.g., resume with verification of employment or letters of reference)

  3. Licensure or certifications related to the teaching assignment(s)

  4. Documentation of continuing professional development

  5. List of relevant peer-reviewed publications

  6. Honors and awards

  7. Continuous documented excellence in teaching

  8. Evidence of other demonstrated competencies and achievements related to the course(s) in question
